College football’s newest official rivalry is the Georgia Grown Bowl between Georgia State and Georgia Southern, with the second edition scheduled for this Saturday at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro. The Sun Belt Conference rivals are having down years on the field but pride will be on the line when they battle for the Commissioner’s Cup Trophy. Said Georgia Ag Commissioner Tyler Harper, “Like agriculture bridges the gap between rural and urban Georgia, athletics connects fans in every corner of our state and beyond, and the Georgia Grown Bowl is an awesome opportunity to bring together farmers and fans through agriculture and athletics.” Attendees can explore the Georgia Grown Farmers Market outside the stadium before the game, and after kickoff Georgia Grown will feature predominantly on the jumbotron, in the game programs and in-stadium promotions – all showcasing the unique Peach State connection between agriculture and football.
