The merger of two major timberland companies will create a new major corporate headquarters in Georgia – and the new largest private landowner in the state.  Florida-based Rayonier and Washington state-based PotlatchDeltic this week announced their merger, and that the yet-to-be-named combined company will set up its corporate HQ somewhere in Metro Atlanta.  Its land portfolio will include some 900,000 acres of timberland across the Peach State, providing a major boost to the state’s forestry industry, which took a hit with the recent announcement that a major paper mill in Savannah was closing its doors.  RISING…
