After weeks of working without pay, air traffic controllers and other federal aviation employees are starting to feel the pinch and the Federal Aviation Administration is taking steps to alleviate stress and ensure safety standards during the extended shutdown period. 

On Thursday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Administrator Bryan Bedford outlined the steps they are taking to ensure passenger safety. Most notably, the FAA is instituting a temporary 10 percent reduction in flights at 40 high traffic airports – including the most traffic airport here in Georgia, Hartsfield-Jackson.
