Georgia off “Judicial Hellhole” list – not everyone is impressed

It took some heavy lifting from Gov. Brian Kemp and his allies in the legislature to get a pair of sweeping tort reform bills passed during this year's legislative session, and while supporters say they're already seeing results, not everyone agrees.

The American Tort Reform Foundation (ATRA) announced this week that Georgia has moved off its inauspicious 'Judicial Hellholes' list, where it had previously held a number one ranking.  Some studies have shown that excessive litigation costs Georgia residents $1,415 each year - a number that jumps notably higher in Metro Atlanta.  Supporters of tort reform say that the laws will reduce those costs by strengthening the state's legal climate, increasing transparency and creating jobs.
