It’s been a trying couple years for Georgia’s film and TV industry as many productions have moved to Europe to take advantage of cheap labor. But the industry is picking up steam here in the Peach State, with 33 active productions currently, the highest number in nearly two years. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
