With gas prices spiking due to the war in Iran, Georgia lawmakers are looking to give their constituents some relief at the pump. The state House of Representatives voted Wednesday 163-4 to suspend the gas tax for 60 days. The average price of a gallon of gas in Georgia is sitting at $3.73, a full dollar from where it was a month ago. Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
