Lawmakers pass bills regarding regulation, newborn safety devices

Lawmakers closed out the 2026 session of the Georgia General Assembly by passing bills that address regulatory reform and life-saving measures for newborns. These bills may not have been on the watch list for some who were waiting for legislation addressing election reform and tax reform, but sponsors say they will make a difference for all Georgians.

All three bills are now headed to the Governor's desk for his signature.

“Strong regulatory reform legislation this year ensures that Georgia state government is working for the people of Georgia, rather than the other way around,” said Rep. Matt Reeves, R-Duluth, who spearheaded House Bill 1247 and House Bill 1254 through both Chambers this session.
