Johnson wins residency challenge as he prepares for PSC primary

Former Georgia Public Service Commissioner Fitz Johnson was victorious this week in a challenge to his residency that sought to have him removed from next month's Republican primary.

The challenge, filed by DeKalb County resident Daniel O’Toole (who formerly worked on the campaign of incumbent PSC Commissioner Peter Hubbard), alleged that Johnson's primary residence is in Cobb County, when he is required to live in Clayton, DeKalb, or Fulton Counties to represent PSC District 3.  Georgia's residency requirement states that candidates must "have resided in that district for at least 12 months prior to election thereto.”
