During the legislative session, members of Georgia’s music industry celebrated the passage of HB 14, which would have created a Georgia Music Office, meant to promote and support the state’s music industry in a similar fashion to Georgia’s Film Office. Unfortunately it was one of the 12 bills vetoed by Gov. Brian Kemp Tuesday, as he looked to cut costs from next year’s budget. Supporters hope the measure will be revived next year, but despite passing the legislature the Georgia Music Office, for this year at least, is SINKING…
Atlanta Beltline light rail back on the menu?
Many Atlantans were dismayed when Mayor Andre Dickens seemingly tabled the idea of light rail along the Atlanta Beltline, the city’s wildly popular and successful pedestrian path. After all, light rail was a core part of the loop’s original vision, meant to connect the city all around its (eventual) 22-mile loop. But now the Atlanta City Council is pushing back, with 11 councilmembers, led by Atlanta City Councilwoman Kelsea Bond signing onto a resolution signaling support for the idea.
