Georgia is about to end its early primary voting with good numbers for Democrats. Per statistics from http://georgiavotes.com/, so far in the 2026 primary election, 1,023,307 people have voted. At this point in the 2022 primary election, that number was 859,897. Total turnout for the 2026 primary election is 19% higher. The voting method breakdown is 30,778 mail ballots and 992,529 early votes.
Consider that 580,039 (56.7%) people have voted with Democratic ballots in the 2026 primary. 427,630 (41.8%) people chose Republican primary ballots and 15,523 (1.5%) people voted with Non-Partisan ballots.
The state GOP leadership and Republican candidates obviously wished for better early voting numbers, but they know that traditionally many Georgia Republicans still vote on the actual primary election day— which is Tuesday the 19th.
