A letter to GOP lieutenant governor candidate and former state Senate President Pro Tem John F. Kennedy from Cobb County attorney Drew Ashby titled “Ending All Secrecy Obligations” and copied to various state leaders demands the release of confidential records regarding potential sexual harassment claims against him.
Ashby wrote to Kennedy: “I’m writing this to formally request that you fully release former Georgia Senate staffer E***A****, along with any other woman, from all secrecy obligations that they owe to you, or anyone on your behalf.”
The attorney claims he seeks public transparency and wants to uncover whether any monetary payments were made in potential settlements. He emphasized that “sexually predatory behavior should never be covered up.”
This letter suspiciously surfaces on the eve of the June 16th runoff election where Kennedy (who finished first in a multi-candidate May 21 primary) faces off against GOP state Sen. Greg Dolezal.
Some Kennedy supporters contacted by James Magazine Online believe the letter to be a last-minute dirty trick by citing some anonymous “staffer.” Others wonder if this is a liberal mainstream media hit, revealed through the lawyer, to influence and possibly derail the Republican candidate’s campaign.
The Ashby letter to Kennedy says he has a deadline of 9 am today to comply with the demand.
