The widening of the FBI probe into the Fulton County Board of Election’s management of the 2020 presidential election reflects President Donald Trump’s desire to get solid proof that the balloting was, in his words, “rigged.” The assigning of approximately 260 agents and election analysts was discovered by The New York Times based on a leaked personnel memo authorizing overtime for the additional staff. Dozens of agents are often assigned to priority cases, but this large number is rare. The Atlanta newspaper frets about Trump “conspiracy theories” and “baseless claims” (even though all Fulton Superior Court judges recused themselves from ever hearing the Trump election case and seeing any evidence). Rather than shrill editorializing in “straight news stories,” why won’t the paper resume probing what happened during that 2020 election– especially since prosecutions may be looming for lawbreakers. Atlanta, Fulton Co. square off in tax fight
The City of Atlanta has long used tax allocation districts (TADs) as an economic development tool, leveraging property tax increases to pay for local infrastructure projects. But the Fulton County Commission has slammed on the brakes, voting 4-1 to reject a proposed 30-year extension of Atlanta’s TADs. That sets up a major budgetary clash, as the Fulton TADs would be expected to generate over a billion dollars over that period.
