Georgia houses the nation’s fifth largest military population and serves approximately 135,000 military-connected students through the state’s K-12 public education system each year. Along with offering special services to military connected students, the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) annually recognizes schools that demonstrate best practices and unique opportunities for military families to connect, ensuring comprehensive support for military students.

This year 19 schools across Georgia have been honored as 2025–2026 Military Flagship School Award winners. These schools “go above and beyond to provide a supportive, welcoming environment for military-connected students and their families. These schools intentionally reach out to military families and work to understand, identify, and accommodate their unique needs,” according to officials with the GaDOE.
