It’s the off-session for the Georgia General Assembly, but many lawmakers are returning to work this month as members of several special study committees appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns, R-Newington, kick off summer meetings.

The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Local Government Taxation, Funding and Budgeting, chaired by stateRep. Chas Cannon, R-Moultrie, will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville.
