Valdosta has been named one of four finalists to become the permanent home of the National High School Football Hall of Fame. The South Georgia city joins Massillon, Ohio, Berea, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as one of four “football-rich communities” under consideration. The Hall of Fame has opened in 2010, and is currently alongside the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. But it’s looking for a new home, and Valdosta, dubbed “TitleTown USA” by ESPN back in 2008, has a strong bid. The Valdosta High School Wildcats are one of the most storied programs in the country, and the Lowndes High Vikings join them as one of the best programs in the state. The proposed Hall would inclue memorabilia, exhibits, edcuational programs and an annual induction ceremony that would draw former football stars and legends from around the country.
