As Georgia state and local government continues to respond with speed and agility, word comes that the true brunt of the combination ice storm/winter storm has yet to be seen.
A new round of ice/sleet is entering metro-Atlanta and will be headed east. Behind it the various weather models show large amounts of snow for much of metro-Atlanta and other sections of the state which will cover already ice-laden trees and power lines, potentially adding to the power outages that utilities have worked to deal with at amazing speed. Temperatures are starting to plunge as well.
Some models show areas such as Cobb and North Fulton receiving an unexpected four-to-seven more inches of snow later this evening and areas south of Atlanta and east all the way to Augusta with huge additional amounts of sleet and freezing rain.
