Gov. Nathan Deal is moving ahead with administrative efforts to bring about the legal use of medical marijuana for seriously ill children who would benefit from it. He’s getting criticism for his initiative being an election-year ploy, but that’s just a case of election year damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don’t politics. The deserved criticism goes to the General Assembly, which fell on its face in not passing a medical marijuana bill this year. Here’s guessing that the parents of the kids in question don’t care about elections one way or the other. They just appreciate the executive action by the only person in Georgia who can help them right now. And that’s Nathan Deal. … RISING
