It’s not an easy time to be in retail, what with the existence of Amazon and similar websites, and for Macy’s it’s no different.  The retail chain announced this week plans to shut down up to 40 of its stores, roughly 5% of its total operation, due to declining sales numbers.  This is bad news for Georgia because we have 23 stores in the state which employ upwards of 6,000 workers, and closing stores means lost jobs.  Rough seas appear to be ahead for what was once Atlanta’s premier shopping destination but is now SINKING…
