The battle over State Rep. Allen Peake’s HB 722, which would allow for medical marijuana to be grown in the state for use by people with one of a handful of pre-approved maladies, heated up this week as supporters rallied at the State Capitol to support it. Currently use of medical cannabis by those suffering from one of those eight conditions is legal, but actually getting it into the state remains illegal, causing quite the conundrum. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
