Cobb County may be the new, or soon, home of Braves country, but it may not be Tim Lee country for much longer. The Chairman of the Cobb County Commission, widely credited, and accepted by Lee, as the architect within Cobb County government of the Braves move out of Atlanta and up I-75, faced a tough re-election fight on Tuesday and heads to a runoff on July 26.
Lee faced two opponents in his election and fell behind challenger Mike Boyce by roughly 9%, or 3,000 votes, with Boyce barely missing the Georgia-required majority to avoid the runoff. Boyce’s campaign largely took issue with Lee’s tactics during the Braves negotiations and the county’s favoring of big business over regular citizens.
