The Conservative Policy Leadership Institute (CPLI), a 501(c)(3), non-partisan educational organization, has been the leading conservative policy training program in Georgia for six years. Founded by alumni from the Coverdell Leadership Institute, CPLI recruits public policy-oriented individuals who have demonstrated leadership experience and who desire an advanced issue-based educational experience grounded in conservative thought. The organization works to keep our leaders educated, informed, and always focused on how to infuse conservative values of a free market, smaller government, and individual responsibility into the policy forum.

The next class begins in January 2017 and includes six program sessions, up from the four sessions in previous years. Also, the program is changing to a calendar year schedule. The Class of 2017 will begin in January and graduate in December.

Class members are selected by an application process that is open through August 1, 2016. Anyone interested in applying may review the session dates and download an application directly through our website at www.cpli.info/applications. Tuition of $1,500, which covers all meals and accommodations, is due November 1. CPLI does not endorse, support, or oppose candidates or proposed legislation and has an open application policy with programs and materials available to the public.

This year, having just graduated the Class of 2016 in April and not starting the Class of 2017 until January, CPLI is taking the opportunity to host a party celebrating our accomplishments and the launch of our new class schedule. The Summer Sunday Soiree on August 21 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Wimbish House in Midtown is open to any and all who would like to support conservative policy in Georgia. Guests will enjoy an open bar of beer and wine, heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music and great conversation with conservative leaders from all over the state. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by visiting www.cpli.info/events or visiting the event site on Facebook.

A VIP reception precedes the Soiree beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tickets to the VIP reception are included with all sponsorships beginning with two tickets at the $1,000 level — with additional tickets, both to the VIP reception and the Soiree, for higher sponsor levels.

I know that we are focused on elections this fall, but I want to ask you to sit back and think about the issues that we are facing and how— beyond elections— we can promote conservative policy. That is why the Conservative Policy Leadership Institute exists, and why I serve as chairman. I encourage conservatives across the state to support CPLI through either class participation or attending the Summer Sunday Soiree.

The author is chairman of the Coverdell Policy Leadership Institute.
