Taxpayers wanting that refund quickly can file their return electronically starting Jan. 23, but the IRS warns that some tax refunds may be delayed several weeks.

New tax laws require the IRS to hold returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit until Feb. 15. That means many who file early and seek these credits will not see refunds until the week of Feb. 27, according to the IRS.

Still, the IRS estimates that about 90 percent of all refunds will be paid within 21 days.
