Arraignment was delayed again in the case against a woman accused in Gwinnett County of attacking a Lawrenceville family with a flagpole almost a year ago.

Aisha Ibrahim was scheduled for arraignment Monday, but the case was continued until June 19 after her attorney filed a leave of absence with the court.  Ibrahim is represented by Thomas S. Clegg, who has leave for the week. Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Tom Davis agreed to continue the case.  The arraignment also was continued last month when Ibrahim failed to appear. A relative at that hearing told the court the defendant was receiving medical care.

According to a report last month in World News Daily, the Arno family was sitting outside May 31, 2016, when Ibrahim rushed them. The defendant allegedly grabbed a U.S. flag from the family’s mailbox and attempted to him Dami Arno and her 17-year-old daughter with the flag’s pole.  Dami Arno and two neighbors subdued the alleged attacker while the daughter called 911 for assistance.  A son, 14-year-old Chuck Arno, rushed from the family’s home with a gun and held the attacker until police arrived.

No member of the Arno family was in court Monday, but the family expressed frustration last month that the case was continued and that the family was not notified when the defendant was released on bail.

Ibrahim, 31, is a described as a Somali refugee. She also used the name Amina Ali Ahra.

According to court records, a State Court ordered a mental evaluation on June 24, 2016. The judge then sealed the court records on Sept. 29, and a week later the case was transferred to Superior Court.  Ibrahim faces two counts of simple assault, two counts of simple battery and one count of giving false information. The false information charge is a felony.
