Amidst the furor last week of wood construction and telecom-delivered broadband, a resolution passed the House that may, eventually, pay big dividends for regular Georgians. House Resolution 1374 creates the House Study Committee on Professional Licensing Boards Operations and Funding in order to determine whether these boards are serving the purposes originally envisioned by the legislature.

Last month, InsiderAdvantage covered Rep. Buzz Brockway (R-102 Lawrenceville) and his efforts to mandate periodic auditing for occupational licensing entities with House Resolution 744. Now, HR 1374 – sponsored by Rep. Brett Harrell (R-Snellville 106) and co-sponsored by Brockway, among others – is another attempt to take a deeper dive in an area than can often unintentionally, or maybe intentionally, harm those seeking to enter a given industry and make it exceedingly difficult to gain entry into a career.
