The Georgia forestry industry employs nearly 150,000 individuals and has an economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.  No it doesn’t get the publicity of rockets or tech companies or even peanuts, but its impact on the state can not be overstated.

Ember Bishop Bentley is the executive director of the Georgia Forestry Foundation, which serves as the educational arm of the Georgia Forestry Association, the state’s leading advocacy group for the industry.  It looks to teach Georgians, particularly students, about the 22 million acres of forestland in the state and the role that working forests play in the economy.
