Atlanta’s skyline is about to get a major new addition. The Signia Hilton hotel is slated for construction later this year on the site of the old Georgia Dome, hosting 1,000 rooms and 75,000 square feet of meeting space in its 30 stories. The hotel would be connected to the Georgia World Congress Center, and play a key role in the GWCCA’s 2020 Vision master plan. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
