The prestigious publication Inside Elections has moved both of Georgia’s 2020 U.S. Senate races from “leans Republican” to “likely Republican,” a sign that Democrats haven’t found top-tier candidates that are more electable and in the voter mainstream.

Inside Elections said that “Democrats are struggling to find top-tier candidates against Sen. David Perdue or against the upcoming appointed senator who will replace Johnny Isakson.”

This comes as the five announced Democrat Senate candidates have supported increasingly radical positions, with some endorsing open borders, gun control, the socialist Green New Deal scheme and even the elimination of private health insurance (including Medicare Advantage for seniors).

Senate Democrat Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee have been holding job interviews in Washington D.C. to find other candidates to run, including DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond and former U.S. Attorney Ed Tarver of Augusta.

So far, they don’t want to commit. “It’s clear that Georgia Democrats’ strategy of racing to the left and embracing the extreme is not paying off for their campaigns,” said Georgia Action Fund Executive Director John Burke. “… Their party appears to be stuck with a lackluster crop of candidates who are struggling to catch fire with voters.”
