Most of the news coming out of Washington these days seems to involve impeachment inquiries, Green New Deals, and primary debates. Big picture stuff. But legislators are elected to go to D.C. to represent their home districts – and even in these crazy times many of them are doing just that.
U.S. Rep. David Scott (D-13) this month secured more than $3.5 million in federal funding for the City of South Fulton and Henry County Fire Departments to be used for hiring new personnel as well as for new equipment.
The grants come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which provides direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations, and State Fire Training Academies.
“Local fire departments play a vital role in keeping our communities safe,” said Scott. “I am proud to have helped secure these funds for the City of South Fulton and Henry County Fire Departments. As a member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, I am well aware of the critical need to increase and maintain the number of trained, front-line firefighters. And I will continue working to support and deliver federal funding for the fire departments across Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District.”
