It’s not football, or baseball, or heck even chess, but at Savannah College of Art and Design a new type of athlete is making its mark on campus. SCAD has a pair of esports teams – in the games ‘Overwatch’ and ‘League of Legends,’ who play before packed crowds in a state of the art competition space in the school’s student center. No it’s not quite a Georgia Saturday at Sanford Stadium, but the Savannah college is getting an early foot in the door into what has become a billion dollar per year industry with no signs of slowing down.
