While the Georgia State Ethics Commission Tuesday upheld a state law that prohibits legislators from raising campaign money while the General Assembly is still in session, that same board unanimously agreed to an advisory opinion that allows incumbents to use their personal money to pay campaign expenses and later reimburse themselves.

“This advisory opinion provides incumbents an avenue to campaign on a level playing field against those challenging them,” said David Emadi, Executive Director of the Commission.
