Savannah officials last week were on hand to cut the ribbon at Savannah’s Plant Riverside District, the new $375 million mixed-use development that will help anchor Savannah’s legendary River Street.  Containing hotels, shopping, a museum, and a concert hall among its attractions, Plant Riverside is housed mainly in the former Georgia Power Plant Riverside, the massive power plant which was decommissioned in 2005.  Early reviews have been positive for this re-invigoration of the west end of River Street, which had become a bit dilapidated over the past 15 years and now offers exciting new sights, sounds, and tastes to Savannah residents and visitors alike.
