Last week Macon RBI cut the ribbon on a new $1.6 million baseball facility in Macon that will host an array of sports for local children year round. The Atlanta Braves, United Way of Central Georgia, and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation were among the groups who chipped in to pay for the new Vernon Sinclair, Sr. Field, named after a longtime area baseball coach. Mayor-elect Lester Miller called the new field an “investment in the community,” and hopes it will give Macon youth a positive and safe outlet to participate in America’s pastime.
