It goes without saying that the past year has been a long one for essential workers – those whose jobs are critical to continuing infrastructure operations, and many of whom had to cover for others through the COVID-19 pandemic.  Communities around the state are finding ways to honor these workers, such as Kennesaw’s Garden Art Poles project in Swift Cantrell Park.  The Kennesaw Art and Culture Commission partnered with Kennesaw Parks and Recreation and local artists to create the poles, which are uniquely painted to thank essential workers and celebrate how the community came together through the pandemic.  The poles are actually prototypes for a larger artistic endeavor which will install even more throughout the city.  A call for artists for that phase of the endeavor is expected later this year.
