While much of the attention Monday was focused on election reform, citizen’s arrest laws and meeting the deadline of Crossover Day, lawmakers took another step in their fight against domestic violence. House Bill 231, sponsored by Representative Houston Gaines (R-Athens), sailed through the House by a 174-0 vote and is now headed for the Senate. 

The bill would create a new type of temporary protective order for victims who experience abuse by a dating partner.
