California-based Pete’s, a produce company specializing in hydroponically grown living lettuce, is bringing its technology to the East Coast for the first time in Warner Robins.  The company will invest $18 million to open its first eastern U.S. indoor, controlled environment agriculture facility in Robins International Industrial Park, a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) Certified site.  GRAD sites are those which have met the Ga. Dept. of Economic Development’s rigorous certification requirements.  Pete’s indoor growing facilities require 90% less land and water compared to traditional farming, and while this particular facility will create only around 15 full time jobs, it opens the door for a whole new facet of Georgia’s largest industry in Peach County and beyond.
