Augusta’s ongoing search for a new fire chief has already cost taxpayers $14,000 – and the debacle is far from over. Last month Antonio Burden was named the sole finalist for the open position, but questions arose when it came out that he did not meet the city’s search requirements while other candidates did. City officials refused to release search records until ordered to do so by Superior Court Judge Jesse Stone, and now two Augusta commissioners have admitted the process was flawed and needs to be restarted. New York man arrested over threats to Mike Collins
Georgia law enforcement officials traveled all the way up to Buffalo, New York this week to arrest a man charged with making death threats to U.S. Rep. Mike Collins and his son-in-law. The suspect faces two counts of terroristic threats. “No American should have to worry that their home could be the next Butler, Pennsylvania or Utah Valley University,” said Collins after the arrest, referring to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and attempted assassination of then-candidate Donald Trump.
