With the the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicting an above-normal hurricane season for 2021, on the heels of the most active season in 170 years, it’s a good idea to be prepared. The NOAA says to expect as many as 20 named storms, with 3-5 major hurricanes. With that in mind, Amazon is opening a Disaster Relief Hub south of Atlanta near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to serve as a strategic response center for storms to come. The 10,000 square foot warehouse will stock more than a half-million supplies, ready to be shipped out anywhere in the region as needed, supporting the humanitarian groups that typically put boots on the ground after storms. Questions linger over Atlanta City Hall investigation
An ongoing investigation into former Atlanta Municipal Clerk Foris Webb III is hitting roadblocks, as city employees are delaying or rejecting interviews by the inspector general. Webb received more than $900,000 in consulting fees from the city for his “work” on a referendum meant to block the city’s law enforcement training center, dubbed “Cop City.” That referendum got held up in court, never wound up doing anything, and the center was built, but Webb continued to cash a $35,000 check each month.
