It has been nine years since Camden County officials began the laborious process of trying to create the state’s first spaceport, but good news last week from the Federal Aviation Administration means their plans may finally be coming to fruition.  The FAA last Thursday issued its final study on Spaceport Camden’s environmental impact statement, coming to the conclusion that building the spaceport, as opposed to scrapping it, is the “preferred alternative.”  That means the odds are good that the project will get a final approval in July, allowing Camden to become the 20th site in the U.S. to be cleared to launch commercial spacecraft, as well as to attract all the industry jobs and tourism that would accompany it.
