Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller made a major announcement recently regarding the ongoing revitalization efforts in the city center – a $100 million plan for the 75-acre Macon Mall property that will include the state’s second largest amphitheater.  Calling the city the “the music capital of the world,” (a bold claim) Miller promoted the private-public partnership driving the effort, and pledged that “not one additional tax penny will go into developing this project.”  The mall property, which was recently donated to the city, will be repurposed into retail, restaurants, and government offices along with the music venue.
