Navy SEAL and former Trump administration official Latham Saddler says he’s running for U.S. Senate to ensure an America that is strong, secure and free. Saddler is one of a number of Republicans challenging Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock. He’s calling for patriotic unity in his campaign.

“I will put Georgia first and keep America first,” Saddler said in his campaign announcement. “I will not back down in the face of our enemies who seek to destroy us, or from those among us who seek to divide us. I’ll fight for you with honor, hard work, respect and resilience because that’s the American way. I will fight for you, your children and many generations to come.”

Saddler says he has spent his life “dedicated to our country both abroad and at home: fighting for the nation for eight years as a Navy SEAL Officer, serving as Director of Intelligence Programs on the National Security Council, and working alongside our country’s leaders as a White House Fellow.”

He says he first felt the call to serve as a freshman at the University of Georgia as he watched the events of September 11 unfold. And as a graduate student at Georgia Tech, he became fluent in Persian-Farsi while pursuing a master’s in International Affairs.

“The culmination of these experiences led me to fulfill the call to serve that I first felt on 9/11,” he says, and added that his time serving alongside his fellow SEALs is “the greatest honor of my life.”

While on active duty, Saddler deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, then received orders to serve at the White House as Director of Intelligence Programs on the National Security Council during the Trump Administration.

“I’m an outsider who also understands and appreciates policy,” Saddler said in a recent interview.

He lists security, liberty and prosperity as his key issues on his campaign website. Saddler says he is committed to prioritizing and modernizing national defense.

“A strong America looks like this: Secure borders. A well-funded, globally-unmatched military. An effective intelligence community operating around the world to prevent attacks at home. Strong and mutually-beneficial relationships with our allies,” he said — adding that he wants to ensure that military bases in Georgia remain “keys to our national security mission and essential community partners across our state.”

He goes on to say that he is determined that” Communist China will not prevail” and that he will hold China accountable and ensure America’s continued leadership in the free world. He also lists “fixing the immigration crisis” as another key issue.

Other campaign issues for Saddler: defending the Second Amendment, protecting unborn lives, and eliminating the cancel culture, rebuilding the economy, putting Georgia first and keeping America first.
