The town of Lula, in Northeast Georgia’s Hall County, was recently recognized by the Georgia Municipal Association as the state’s newest certified “City of Ethics.”  Judged by a panel of attorneys, the recognition honors municipalities that adopts and adheres to a strict local ethics ordinance.  The ordinance must include definitions, prohibited conduct, and due process for officials accused of violations in areas such as financial disclosures and outside employment, and clearly lay out penalties for violators.  Lula, a small town of some 3,000 residents outside Gainesville, becomes the 16th Georgia city to be recognized.
