(Editor’s note: This is one of a series of articles in the months to come on Democrat and Republican candidates for office.)

T.J. Hudson told a group at the Hall County Republican Party this past weekend that following a tragic car accident he realized he was “here for a reason.” One of the reasons, he says, is to run for Georgia Secretary of State. The Republican is one in a crowded field of Republicans that includes incumbent Brad Raffensperger, four-term U.S. Rep. Jody Hice of Greensboro and former Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle.

Democrats who have announced include state Rep. Bee Nguyen of Atlanta, former Fulton County Commission chair John Eaves, who now lives in Gwinnett County, Albany Democratic activist Manswell Peterson and former Milledgeville mayor and state Sen. Floyd L. Griffin Jr.
