Last week a crowd gathered for the groundbreaking of Athena Studios, the first ever soundstage built in Athens, Georgia. The studios will be used for both educational and commercial productions, and have already partnered with the Grady College of Journalism and the Georgia Film Academy to work on media. Athena CEO Joel Harber says he hopes the studio will expand the film industry in Athens, as well as keep UGA graduates looking to get into the industry in town after graduation.
