One of the nation’s youngest billionaires, Joe Gebbia Jr., may now live in Silicon Valley – but he’s making sure his alma mater, Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County, doesn’t forget him. The Airbnb co-founder created the Joe Gebbia Visual Arts Endowment at his old high school, donating $500,000 towards developing its arts program. He donated another $200K to the school’s cross country and track teams. That of course isn’t the limit of Gebbia’s giving (he recently donated $25 million towards fighting poverty in California) – and worth $12 billion at just 40 years old, his hometown philanthropy is RISING..
Dem lawmakers urge Kemp to return National Guard troops
A group of seven Democratic state lawmakers penned a letter to Gov. Brian Kemp, urging him to recall Georgia National Guard members stationed in Washington D.C. ahead of the holiday season. Georgia currently has the most guardsman of any state in D.C., some 516 in total, part of President Donald Trump’s mission to lower crime rates. Trump says he wants troops there through the end of his term in 2029, but pushback from lawmakers (and a new governor in January) could see their deployment DRIFTING…
