It was big news last year when Texas-based gas station chain Buc-ee’s opened up its first Georgia location outside Warner Robins, and a year later local officials are seeing a major impact. A study from the Warner Robins Traffic and Engineering Department recorded more than 11,700 cars a day stopping by the gas station/convenience story/mini-mall during Christmas week, a huge amount of people, and money, in the area. Warner Robins officials hope to capture some of that investment, considering adding a visitor’s center nearby later this year to capitalize on the newfound traffic. “We have an opportunity to make sure that area begins to develop,” says Kate Hogan, Warner Robins Director of Community and Economic Development. “I think it’s going to be a good opportunity for a gateway into our community.”
