Reverberations continue over President Joe Biden’s recent Atlanta speech where he attacked Republicans and the GOP-controlled Georgia Legislature for “voter suppression” and “restricting voter rights.” Republicans and even some in the national media point out that it’s all untrue, especially when you compare Georgia’s voting access and administration with other states.
The latest exposure of the falsehoods about Georgia pushed by Biden and the political Left (including Georgia’s two Democratic U.S. senators) comes via last week’s report by the Bipartisan Policy Center titled “Prioritizing Achievable Federal Election Reform” — Prioritizing Achievable Federal Election Reform | Bipartisan Policy Center.
The Center’s report evaluates each state on whether it has adopted a range of basic voter access and administration processes and procedures. And just two states in the nation meet all its recommendations – Colorado and Georgia. (Incidentally, Biden’s home state of Delaware has only adopted 58.3 percent of the recommendations in the report.)
Bert Brantley, an aide to Gov. Brian Kemp, has an interesting take on this report. “You probably haven’t seen this reported in any media outlets,” he says. “Georgia grew by a million people in the last decade, yet our voter registrations went up by 2.5 million, all during a decade when (failed 2018 Democratic gubernatorial candidate) Stacey Abrams created a national profile by claiming massive voter suppression.”
“So the question becomes,” Brantley continues, “why would the Biden administration deploy a strategy that was always headed towards failure? After months of claiming the federal election bill was the moral imperative of this era, why has Sen. (Raphael) Warnock tweeted 13 times over the last three days on everything but voting, saying that he is ‘laser-focused’ on the Child Tax Credit and ‘doing everything he can’ to give ‘free’ government healthcare to as many people as possible?”
Brantley then answers his own question: “It’s because all of this is intended to fill up the news cycle with anything that isn’t about out-of-control inflation.”
Indeed, all national polls reveal that inflation indicators ranging from rising grocery costs to high gas prices are souring a large majority of voters on Biden and the Democrat-controlled Congress’ big tax-and-spend policies.
