A new charter school in Mableton, in south Cobb County, features a unique partner: the Girl Scouts of America.  Amana Academy, which already has one campus in Alpharetta, is set to open its second location at Girl Scouts’ Camp Timber Ridge.  Amana Academy West Atlanta, which will be open to boys as well as girls, is a public charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia.  As part of its partnership with the Girl Scouts it will lease property for its campus amongst the camp’s trails, lakes, and forests, and plans to start with about 200 students from grades K-3 before expanding up to 8th grade by 2028.  The Girl Scouts will also help create programs for the school and invest in facilities that both organizations can make use of.
