Pharmaceutical developer and manufacturer Boehringer Ingelheim has announced a $57 million expansion to its Animal Health Global Innovation Center in Athens.  The facility, which will create more than 50 R&D jobs, will boost the company’s animal vaccine research and manufacturing program.  Boehringer, based out of Germany, also has its U.S. HQ in Duluth and a poultry vaccine-manufacturing plant in Gainesville.  The company says it was drawn to Georgia by its strong workforce, particularly from its University System (and in this case UGA’s lauded animal science program).
