Inflation is at a 41-year high with prices jumping more than 9 percent compared to last year and the average household spending almost $500 more last month to buy the same goods and services. Wednesday, the Georgia GOP struck out at the national Democratic leadership for this record-breaking increase, and pointed to the state’s non-profits that are suffering from what they call “Bidenflation.”

The state Republican Party sent out an email reminding Georgia voters that nonprofits across the state are reeling from the impact of the inflation rate. The GOP referred to reports across the state that are telling the story of the nonprofits and their struggles.

In one report, Second Harvest – which gives out millions of meals to families each year and they transport truckloads of it to organizations across the southeast – said it had had to scale back because of the rising costs of food and gas..

“People who’ve never been to a food bank are seeking assistance because they just can’t make ends meet and put food on the table,” Mary Jane Crouch, executive director of America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, was quoted as saying.

“We used to be able to buy a truckload of peanut butter for $40,000 to $45,000 and that same truckload now is in the $60,000 to $65,000 range,” a spokesperson for the Georgia nonprofit said.

The group’s executive director said that their fuel costs are up 50 percent adding that the skyrocketing prices have “really impacted our bottom line.”

“That has really impacted our bottom line of what we’re able to do and where we’re able to go.”

The U.S. Bureau of Labor reported that for the 12 months ending in June, the consumer price index went up by 9.1 percent, the fastest year-over-year jump since the 1980′s.

The GOP email goes on to state “that like rural households, nonprofits located in rural areas of the Peach State are getting hit hardest by Bidenflation.”

They point to one analysis that shows “rural household disposable income fell by an estimated 38 percent from 2021 to 2022, while urban household disposable income fell by about 17 percent.

“As if 40-year high inflation rates haven’t caused enough damage already, they are now ravaging charity groups working to feed Georgia families. The idea that skyrocketing prices haven’t been enabled by Raphael Warnock and Sanford Bishop is nothing more than a pernicious myth,” said Georgia Republican Party Press Secretary Danielle Repass – referring to reports in the National Desk that “Economists say American Rescue Plan contributed to inflation”

“Meanwhile, Raphael Warnock and Sanford Bishop have put agriculturalists and everyday Georgians last by continuously voting for Joe Biden’s frivolous spending,” the GOP email said.
