1 in 3 single-family houses sold in the Georgia last year were bought by investors — not families. And many became rental properties. In an analysis by Stateline and CoreLogic data, the COVID era trend occurred as investors could offer cash in bidding wars for property. That led all too many landlords to oust those paying less rent or just hike rents on others. Cities and counties are looking to protect renters rights, so look for this to be a topic for the 2023 General Assembly. ICE operation catches criminals
During the Biden administration illegal immigrants overwhelmed systems ranging from healthcare to schools. Illegal alien street gangs flourished. Now, though, Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the results of an enhanced immigration enforcement operation throughout Georgia. “Operation Safe Community” yielded 1,226 immigration arrests in recent weeks. Of those individuals who snuck across our borders, 720 had been convicted or charged with crimes in the U.S. According to ICE, the criminal histories of the arrested aliens include sex crimes, crimes against children, aggravated assault, assault and battery, drug crimes, lewd and lascivious acts, weapons crimes and burglary.
